This Offensive Practice Plan was compiled bv Jim Speciale, Oregon's 2006 Softball Coach of the Year.
Station 1: Cage Hitting (Approx. 18 minutes)
Set up the JUGS Super Softball Machine throwing fastballs behind a JUGS Softball Screen in a JUGS Batting Cage Net and Frame. Use the JUGS Sting-Free® Yellow-Dimpled Softballs. Set the machine at 62 mph. 3 players, 12 cuts each. Hit the ball back up the middle (trying to hit the back of the net). The Super Softball Machine, Softball Screen, Batting Cage Nets and Frames and Practice Softballs can be purchased separately or together in the JUGS Michele Smith Softball Backyard Package™.
Station 2: Slap Bunting (Approx. 18 minutes)
Using the JUGS Lite-Flite® Machine, Baseman Screen and Lite-Flite® Screen, set up down the first-base line with a Bucket of JUGS Lite-Flite® Softballs—coach feeds machine. 3 players—12 slap bunts each player. Remember to only “slap” at strikes and try to hit the ball in a downward plane.
Station 3: Toss (Approx. 18 minutes)
In right-center field, set up a JUGS Toss™ Machine and JUGS Instant Backstop®. Have the Toss Machine set up for an outside pitch. Work on being directional and driving the ball towards the opposite field gap. Take 10 cuts then rotate. The Toss™ Machine, Instant Backstop® and Practice Softballs can be purchased separately or together in the JUGS Deluxe Toss Package™.
Station 4: 5-Point Tee (Approx. 18 minutes)
Set up the JUGS 5-Point Hitting Tee™ with the JUGS Instant Screen® in center field. Use the JUGS Sting-Free® Balls at this station. 3 players—12 cuts each player. The hitter is working on driving the outside pitch to the opposite field gap.
5-Point Tee, Instant Screen® and Practice Softballs can be purchased separately or in a JUGS® Package.
Station 5: Tee (Approx. 18 minutes)
Set up the JUGS Hitting Tee™ with the JUGS Instant Screen® in left-center field. Use the JUGS Sting-Free® Balls at this station. 3 players—12 cuts each player. The hitter is working on driving the ball up the middle. Tee, Instant Screen® and Practice Softballs can be purchased separately or in a JUGS® Package.
Station 6: Sacrifice Bunting (Approx. 18 minutes)
Set up the JUGS Multi-Sport Instant Cage® at home plate and the Super Softball™ Machine behind the Softball Screen on pitching rubber. Each player will get 12 cuts—(6) bunts first base side, (6) bunts third base side. The Multi-Sport Instant Cage®, Softball Screen, Practice Softballs can be purchased separately.
